Fruit and Tree Project is an initiative founded by Scope Intervention after interaction with communities living in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. The project purposes at helping communities living in these areas to conserve their environment, acquire sustainable means of livelihood and improve their nutrition by planting fruit trees.
Fruit and Tree Project is intended to increase forest cover, improve children’s health and empower school going children to champion environmental conservation initiatives in their schools and communities through planting of fruit trees. The project targets at supporting 200 schools in Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties in planting of 200 different types of fruit trees around their compounds. The schools will be empowered on environmental conservation through provision of environmental education and also be built capacity on developing fruit tree nurseries that will raise more seedlings that will be planted by children in their homes.
